The traditional offshore Caribbean registries along with more recent European entrants such as the Isle of Man and the Jersey Aircraft Register (JAR) will generally not permit commercial operation on a ‘hire and reward’ basis. Aircraft registered in these jurisdictions are only permitted to operate on a private or corporate basis. These registries will however offer the facility to leasing companies to provide often very short term ‘safe haven’ registration for commercial airliners between operational leases.
